Abstract: | The licence area lies on the eastern limb of a large southerly plunging anticline, which is covered by rocks of the Mt Bonnie Formation. A 1-2m wide vein system outcrops in the northern area of the tenement and is interpreted as part of the broader Pine Creek Shear Zone. A 20m deep shaft was sunk into this vein system in November 1992 by Kevin Enniss, who is believed to have extracted about 10 tonnes of gold ore. No work was carried out by the Shell Company within the MCN in the reporting period, however the Union Reefs Project is currently undertaking a close spaced soil/auger sampling programme over the extent of MCN 4203. Combined with detailed mapping this should identify possible drilling targets, some of which will be drilled in 1994. |
