Abstract: Three distinct gold anomalous zones were defined by the stream sediment programme. Anomaly one with Au values to 74.7ppb occurs over a 1.3Km x 600m area in a NW-SE trending zone which appears to be an extension of mineralisation in the Virginia Shear Zone. Anomaly 2 coincides with a 2km x 300m north-south trending vein set. Anomaly 3 occurs in the NE of the licence over a 500m wide zone in quartz wacke. Its source has not been determined. Rock chip samples of the different vein sets were also analysed. A 400m long anomaly was identified in the soil sampling programme, which gave values ranging from 3 to 35 ppb Au. This anomaly coupled with rock chip sample results ranging up to 0.26g/t Au from this laterite and the Buckshee Breccia. It is therefore suggested that these iron-rich lithologies may be potential sources for high tonnage low grade gold resources.
