Abstract: This report summarises work carried out by North Flinders Mines Ltd on EL2368 in the twelve month period ending November 22, 1988. Work was concentrated in the Officer Hill area and consisted of geological reconnaissance, access provision, tape and compass grid establishment and vacuum drilling. As part of the statutory requirement of license, 50% of the EL area was relinquished. Exploration was largely concentrated in the Officer Hill area based onanomalous rock chip assays obtained during earlier reconnaissance. Work consisted of further geological reconnaissance and limited rock chip sampling, sample locations and assay results are shown on Drawing No. 60-264. This was followedup by access provision, tape and compass grid establishment and semi-detailed vacuum drilling. The location of vacuum drill holes is shown on drawing no 200-265 and drill traverses and assay results are shown on drawing numbers 200-268 to 200-269. Vacuum drill holes were spaced at 50 metres along north south oriented lines 100 or 200 metres apart. They were generally drilled until clays, ferricrete or weathered bedrock caused lack of penetration. Samples were collected at the base of each hole and usually close to the top of each hole within a generally present ferricretelayer. Detailed drill logs and assays for all holes are included and all samples were assayed for gold, arsenic, copper, lead and zinc by Analabs in Adelaide. A first group of samples were also assayed for tin although this was discontinued due to low results. The results of the vacuum drilling are generally disappointing with only rare samples returning slightly anomalous gold, copper and zinc although only the results for copper and zinc are partly coincident. Further exploration in the area will be decided upon after more detailed assessment of the results.
