Abstract: The EL 3261 area was situated on the northern margin of the Ngalia Basin, 330 kilometres by road northwest of Alice Springs, Northern Territory. The Prospect is currently the subject of an Exploration Retention Lease application which followed on the relinquishment of E.L. 3261 on the 3rd November, 1983. Since 1971, detailed mapping and drilling had been used to investigate the uranium potential of the Mount Eclipse Sandstone. The uranium mineralisation was found to be confined to a channel facies in the Walbiri Prospect sequence. After examination of the Walbiri Prospect data, a consultant uranium geologist suggested the possibility of a complex of small 'roll front' type uranium bodies. However, after extensive review, no clear-cut evidence was found, to support this view. MLN 1950 was applied for over the EL due to mine for Uranium/Vanadium found at the Walbiri prospect and surrounds. An agreement between Central Pacific Minerals, AGIP Australia, Urangesellschaft Australia, Offshore Oil, Southern Cross Exploration and Cocks Eldorado was lodged on 15/01/1985 (D4091).
