Abstract: EL 4692 was explored for diamondiferous kimberlites by a combination of drainage gravel sampling, an airborne multispectral scanner survey, a detailed airborne geophysical survey, a ground magnetic survey, scout drilling, and costean sampling. The Geophysical survey resulted at the identification of two target amphitheatre-like topographic features drained by Matheson creek. Samples of their lithologies yielded chromites and microdiamonds. The detailed airborne magnetic and radiometric survey also yielded 32 magnetic anomalies. This also led to the identification of anomaly GlY 2, correlating with the Matheson creek amphitheatre features. ground survey data indicated discrete magnetic source bodies at shallow depth beneath both features. Scout core drilling gave intersections of diatreme-facies kimberlitic tuff-breccias beneath both amphitheatre features. Processing of drill core and costean samples showed the diatremes to be diamondiferous. However no commercial sized stones were recovered.
