Abstract: Tin-tantalite exploration was concentrated on the eastern part of EL2171, where numerous pegmatites and granitoids have intruded meta-argillites of the Burrell Creek Formation. Stream and soil sediment geochemical samples showed negative results when analysed. About 30 shallow costeans were dug across quartz veins, pegmatites and granitoid rocks. One sample was mineralized (0.10% Sn). Tin-tantalite exploration should continue in the poorly exposed metasedimentary areas adjacent to the major intrusions. Pegmatite veins are likely to occur in these areas, and may be located using auger drilling techniques.
