Abstract: The Helen Springs area may be an extension of the McArthur Basin. Sedimentary units have been recognized which appear to be the equivalent of the Tawallah, McArthur, Nathan and Roper Groups of the McArthur Basin. No HYC Pyritic Shale equivalents outcrop however areas have been outlined where such sediments could occur below relatively thin superficial cover. Geochemical sampling points to base metal mineralization in both Nathan Group and Roper Group equivalents which warrants assessment. A programme of work is recommended involving geophysical testing of the areas of potential HYC style pyritic shales and of the lead zinc mineralization in the Nathan Group equivalents. Geochemical sampling is also recommended to check for possible stratiform shale hosted base metal deposits in the Roper Group. Greatest potential lies in shale hosted base metal targets. Stratigraphic units have been mapped as McArthur Basin equivalents.
