Title: | Final report on exploration for limestone in the Daly River Basin, EL 2067. |

Abstract: | This report summarises the work done on limestone exploration on EL 2067 over almost four years. The target specification for quicklime manufacture is less than 4% MgO. For cement manufacture, the grade can be as low as 78% calcium carbonate but the magnesia must be under 2.5% and preferably less than 2%. Several separate reports dealing with drilling and outcrop sampling by Dr Brian Daily are appended. Limestone, marginally suitable for lime manufacture and suitable for cement production occurs in strata of limited thickness. Grade control would be complex due to dolomitisation and silicification. This search was abandoned in favour of shell material occurring closer to Narbalek. Uncertainty in the uranium mining sector, the main consumer, was also a contributing factor. |
