Abstract: An area of 8,000 km2 along the northeastern Daly Basin was investigated by AAEC in late 1975. This report deals with an area of about 330 km2 immediately west of Katherine. Mapping, regional soil and water sampling were undertaken. A clastic unit in the Jinduckin Formation was thought to have some potential to host uranium, but was found to be too thin or eroded. The Cullen Granite was recognised as a potential uranium source. Slightly radioactive black shales near Douglas River Hot Springs and near Jindare Homestead contained anomalous uranium. The conclusion was that no uranium ore targets were found and further on-ground work could not be justified until airborne data had been interpreted.
