Abstract: | This report is submitted as a requirement of the statutory relinquishment of 123 blocks out of EL 5418 and summarises work carried out on the relinquished areas. Exploration undertaken in the first year of tenure comprised of data acquisition and interpretation. The open-file airborne magnetic data have been purchased and data sets were processed and interpreted. An aerial magnetic survey was flown in the area which was not covered the purchased magnetic data. Colour aerial photography was also flown and Landsat images were purchased. All available data were utilized in order to assist in preparation and target selection. This was followed by surface geochemical sampling of a N-S trending aeromagnetic anomaly. The area sampled was mostly covered by aeolian sand with minor float and lateritic lag. No anomalies were detected in the samples collected. Interpretation of all data has indicated that the areas relinquished are not prospective for near surface gold mineralisation. |
