Title: | Annual report on EL 5359 (Mathison Creek) for the period 26-03-1991 to 25-03-1992 |
Title Holder / Company: | Poseidon Exploration |
Report id: | CR1992-0231 |
Tenure: | EL5359 |

Abstract: | Exploration to date on the area has given evidence that the area has potential for carbonate and sandstone hosted Pb-Zn mineralisation within the Tindall Limestone and Jinduckin Formation. During the reporting period, Poseidon completed a programme of infill sampling for base metals. Where possible the old SPL sites were located and resampled. The original anomalous sample results for Mathison Creek, previously outlined by BHP and Stockdale, have been confirmed and the area of anomalism enlarged. The follow-up sampling highlighted a 15 sq km area containing anomalous Pb, As, (Ba, Co, Zn) values. The anomalous Pb values were in creeks draining the western side of the ridge of Jinduckin formation and underlying Tindall Limestone. A max. value of 960ppm was recorded. In addition, a rock sample contained 2.1% Pb, 8.2% ba, 40ppm Sb, 3900ppm Zn, 380ppm As and 4.2ppm Ag. This rock was described as a highly silicified fine grained rock with ferruginous breccia zones containing coarse barite clasts. Anomalous values were recorded in other samples as well. The distribution of the results suggests the anomalous values are derived from the Dorisvale fault zone and Tindall Limestone. These results are sufficient to warrant further detailed sampling which has been planned for the 1992 field season. |
