| Abstract: | A programme of heavy mineral stream sampling was conducted in the 1989 field season in order to evaluate positive results recorded by both Stockdale and BHP in earlier work. This work identified two areas in EL 5361 (Redbank Creek and Chainman Creek) which possibly host 'kimberlitic' intrusive rocks. A sample form Gum Creek, (EL 5806) produced similar results. Follow up work is planned for these 3 areas in order to identify a source for the chromites recovered. Airborne geophysical data was acquired and reprocessed. Four anomalies in the Redbank Creek area were identified and targetted for further work. During the heavy mineral sampling, a galena/barite vein was noted outcropping along Mathison Creek, close to the Dorisvale Fault. 34 samples were collected in the area, and analysed. results produced elevated values of Pb and Zn, and further work is planned. |
