Northern Star Resources Limited (Northern Star) and Tanami Gold NL (Tanami Gold) established the Central Tanami Project Joint Venture (CTPJV) agreement in 2015 for gold exploration of Central Tanami tenements. In late 2021, the CTPJV was renegotiated to 50:50 joint venture between Northern Star and Tanami Gold with Northern Star operating. Northern Star is interested in generating greenfield gold exploration targets on the southern margin of the Coomarie Dome, a granitoid complex located in the Tanami Province. The Exploration Lease 'Gamma East' EL 32149 bounds the southern part of the Coomarie granite complex and has the potential for hosting geology known to be favourable for gold mineralisation in the Tanami region. Geological units of interest include the Killi Killi and Dead Bullock formations - both Proterozoic volcanic and sedimentary rocks of lower greenschist to amphibolite metamorphic facies which overlie the Browns Range Metamorphic Archaean basement, and the Mount Charles Formation, characterised as interbedded sedimentary units and basalt sequences. Favourable rock for gold mineralisation crops out sparsely and is often overlain by Birrindudu Sandstone or Antrim Plateau Volcanics, which are not considered prospective for gold. An increased understanding of the location and structure of favourable geology will assist Northern Star and the Northern Territory government in generating economic potential for the region. Since EL 32149 is currently under application, Northern Star, on behalf of the CTPJV, proposed a regional-scale airborne gravity gradiometric survey to be completed as preliminary exploration to aid in understanding the regional geological setting. The survey was contracted to Xcalibur Aviation (Australia) Pty Ltd, operating from 2nd to 3rd September 2024. Line spacing was 400m, traversing an E-W direction, at a flight height of 80m. The total kilometres flown was 1127 equating to an area of approximately 380kmsq. The aircraft and crew were based in Halls Creek, Western Australia for the duration of the program. No safety or environmental incidents were reported. The objectives of this program were to increase geological knowledge in the area by: Improving the regional geological understanding in relation to the Coomarie granite dome complex; Resolve the nature of the contact between Tanami Group stratigraphy and the granite dome complex to the north; Better map the nature of stratigraphy where existing datasets were unable to provide any contrast between rock types. This can lead to new potential targets for gold mineralisation; Providing high-resolution data quickly and safely with no ground disturbance required; Allow comparison with magnetic data which could assist with gauging the depth of granites.-
