Tanami Mine Project Annual report for the period 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2016 GR026, MLS 119-MLS 133, MLS 153, MLS 167, MLS 168 and MLS 180

Abstract

This report describes exploration activities primarily for gold undertaken by Northern Star (Tanami) Pty Ltd (NST) over MLS 119-MLS 133, MLS 153, MLS 167-MLS 168 and MLS 180 as part of the Tanami Mine Project GR026/02 between the 1 January 2016 and 31 December 2016. The centre of the Project area is located approximately 660 km northwest of Alice Springs along the Tanami Road which cuts through the centre of the Project. The Project also contains the Central Tanami Project (CTP) gold processing plant which is currently under care and maintenance since closure of the mine in 2005. Following farm-in to the CTP with majority registered holder, Tanami Gold (NT) Pty Ltd (TNT), NST has initiated an intensive programme of data validation and compilation of TNT's original database into NST's new corporate acQuire database system together with historic GIS geochemical and geophysical datasets to support regional targeting exercises with field reconnaissance to ground-truth historical geological and structural mapping. Other work completed or on-going during the reporting period comprised: surface sampling and assaying; regional soil geochemical analysis; MIRA Depth of Cover study; regolith interpretation; resource modelling along the Central Tanami mine corridor; and planning for regional and infill aeromagnetic/radiometric surveys. This extensive work described above is on-going into 2017; operational and exploration MMP's have been submitted to the Department of Primary Industry and Resources in December 2016 with statutory approvals currently pending. The proposed work for the CTP within these MMP's includes RC and DD drilling over MLS 153 at the Hurricane-Repulse historic open pit to identify extensions and any parallel offset gold mineralisation. In addition NST has received various approved regional Sacred Site Clearance Certificates from the Central Land Council.
