dc.description.abstract | Application for ELA 32679 was lodged in March 2021, and withdrawn in September 2021. This document is the statutory report to be lodged within six months of the withdrawal date describing work carried out. The tenement covers a base metal prospect area called Kay Creek. Surface samples collected by previous explorers consistently reported anomalous CuPb-Zn-Co assays in one particular area over outcropping Gillen Formation sediments in the Lower Amadeus Basin sequence. The anomalies were attributed to Mn-Fe surficial scavenging, and no further work carried out. Detailed airborne magnetic/radiometric surveys have revealed no specific responses of interest, and no holes were drilled. However, there is no explanation why this area should have so much Fe-Mn scavenging, and any genuine geochemical anomalism would quite possibly be masked. Early in 2021 Gempart commissioned UTS to fly VTEM surveys over four blocks on surrounding tenement. Whilst the aircraft was in the area, The Kay Creek prospect was flown to check for the presence of bedrock conductors. The VTEM survey comprised 186 line km at 400 metre line spacing over an area of 75 square km. Two priority 3 anomalies were interpreted as probable flat-dipping formational conductors. No priority 1 or priority 2 anomalies indicative of possible bedrock conductors were observed. The geochemical anomalism is probably a function of geomorphological factors during a prolonged weathering history, and does not represent a local mineral source. One of the other four VTEM surveys is on Ringwood EL 32244, which adjoins ELA 32679 to the south. The Waldo Pedlar copper prospect occurs near the tenement boundaries, and nine lines of the Ringwood survey were extended onto ELA 32679 to cover the prospect. No anomalies were observed. In view of the disappointing results from the airborne EM, in September 2021 the tenement application was withdrawn. | |
