dc.description.abstract | The surrendered tenement (EL 5889) is wholly owned by Prodigy Gold NL and is part of the Birrindudu Project (GR163) which currently comprises a total of four tenements and is centred approximately 650 kilometres northwest of Alice Springs, 90 km northwest of the Callie Mine. Prodigy is exploring the project for the potential of gold and base metal mineralisation. No on ground exploration was completed during the reporting year as exploration activities focused on other areas deemed more prospective and less remote. During the tenure, on-ground exploration activities have included surface sampling, vacuum, RAB and aircore drilling conducted largely between 2003 and 2006 by Barrick Gold and Tanami Exploration NL. Recent exploration activities have focused on desktop studies including compilations of historic exploration data, geology and geophysics, and target reviews including the 2017 Tanami scale prospectivity review by Corporate Geoscience Group (CGSG) consultants. The prospect 'Bogardus' situated on the tenement was highlighted as a potential significant target during these desktop reviews and a proposal was made to follow up with RC drilling to test for primary mineralisation below the anomaly highlighted by shallow drilling. Additional suggestions for follow up exploration on the tenement have included the collection of any remaining historical spoil samples for multi-element geochemistry from RAB and AC holes to improve the basement geological interpretation and reconnaissance 1 x 1 km drilling to map out large alteration systems with lithogeochemistry. However, access to the area is currently limited to reconnaissance only following approval of a Sacred Site Clearance Certificate in August 2020. A further clearance would be required to conduct drilling and the suspension of travel in 2020 by exploration companies in the NT to protect vulnerable community residents from the spread of the coronavirus has added further complications to exploration activities. Given the limitations on access and its remote location, Prodigy Gold lodged an outright surrender of the tenement in order to focus on higher priority exploration areas. | - |
