Abstract: The Numery South detailed airborne magnetic and radiometric survey on Gempart EL 32196 was accepted for co-funding under Round 13 of the NTGS GDC program. Originally scheduled for August 2020, it was delayed due to travel restrictions and eventually flown on 15th to 19th February 2021. Data were acquired on 100 metre flight lines over an area of 215 square kilometres for a total of 2,455 line kilometres. Primary commodities sought are base metals, nickel, cobalt, PGE's, Ti, V and REE's. Most of the area has outcrop of Arunta Complex metamorphics or Amadeus Basin sediments. There are no mines or deposits within the EL area; copper and REE mineralisation has been recorded at Pipeline and Arthur Popes prospects respectively. Previous explorers, notably CRAE and Mithril, targeted gold and base metals (primarily copper) in Amadeus Basin sediments, nickel/PGE's in ultramafics and REE's in carbonatitic dykes outcropping in Arunta Complex rocks. Past explorers identified elevated and anomalous geochemistry in multiple elements from surface sampling but followed-up with limited drilling. The survey delivered data with vastly improved resolution over existing 1996 data. It has enabled a thorough interpretation of the gross geometry of the Arunta Complex to be carried out, and provided important detail at prospect scale. The utility of the new magnetic data is complimented by results of a VTEM survey subsequently acquired over the Numery South survey area, and initial mapping and surface sampling. Interpretation of the combined datasets has enhanced understanding of existing areas of interest and defined new prospects.
