Despite the global downturn in uranium and poor market conditions, Energy Metals remains committed towards adding significant resources via exploration within its wholly owned Ngalia regional tenements, to complement the Anomaly 4, 15 and 2 deposits within the Bigrlyi Joint Venture area (ELR's 46-55). Highlights of the 2014-15 reporting period for ELR 45 included historic core re-logging to build early stage geological models and mineralised wireframes generated from chemical assay data compiled from historic reports and original laboratory documents. Unique to the Walbiri deposit is the presence of green, chromium-rich chlorite as clasts and intergranular patches. This occurrence is similar to certain uranium-vanadium deposits of the Colorado Plateau, USA (Bottinelly and Fischer, 1959 - Rifle Creek area and Placerville, Colorado) which contain a 'green layer' composed dominantly of a chromium-bearing mixed-layered phyllosilicate mineral; more work is still required to understand the uranium-chromium association. The CSIRO was engaged to undertake petrological work aimed at understanding controls on mineralisation and the regional correlations between different uranium deposits of the Ngalia Basin; clear chemical and facies differences occur but stratigraphic correlation is difficult across the basin due to the geographically constrained nature of individual alluvial fan system source regions and fluvial palaeo-environments. Original gamma logs from the 1970s (Central Pacific Minerals Ltd, CPM) were located within EME library archives. The scanned logs are currently in the process of being digitised and reprocessed and this work should be completed during the next reporting period. Whilst access to the Walbiri deposit is currently restricted due to heritage issues, EME remains committed to access negotiations with the CLC and Traditional Owners during the next reporting period.
