Birrindudu Basin TOC and Rock-Eval data release

Abstract

This data release contains the total organic carbon (TOC) content and Rock-Eval pyrolysis data of 34 samples from the Birrindudu Basin selected from three drill cores in the NTGS's Darwin core repository. These samples covered six formations: Campbell Springs Dolostone (n = 2), Fraynes Formation (n = 9), Timber Creek Formation (n = 5), Skull Creek Formation (n = 1), Battle Creek Formation (n = 12) and the Wondoan Hill Formation (n = 5) of the Birrindudu Basin (Table 1). This data was generated at the Organic Geochemistry Laboratory at Geoscience Australia as part of the EFTF program.

This publically available dataset is provided in preparation for future work to generate statistics quantifying the spatial distribution and composition of sedimentary rocks, providing information to de-risk resource decision making and investment of northern Australian basins.
