L 28940 is located approximately 75 km north-east of Alice Springs within the area known as 'Mordor Pound'. The tenement has historical occurrences of PGM (platinum, palladium and gold) with previous drilling recording a highest significant intersection of 2m @ 1.1g/t Pt+Pd+Au within an alkaline igneous intrusive complex. In March 2012 Core Lithium (CXO) was granted the exploration lease with for an initial period of 6 years, which was then extended to a total of 8 years. During the tenure period exploration activities were largely office based and included reviewing existing exploration studies and data, GIS database compilation, geophysical interpretation. In September 2014 a brief reconnaissance field trip was undertaken to the Mordor Igneous Complex which was designed to test access and visit existing prospects within the tenement. A soil sampling program was planned but not implemented, and therefore no new data exists for this tenement. In early 2016 EL 28940 was included alongside other tenements into CXO's Group Report (GR361) for the Albarta South Project, and annual reporting continued in this format moving forward. In recent years of reporting, exploration activities in EL 28940 have been limited to office based studies due to a substantial commitment of resources and funds by CXO to the Finniss Lithium Project area, proximal to Darwin. Following a review of CXO's exploration tenure holding in the NT the company has decided to relinquish in full this license so it can focus on progressing the Finnis Lithium Project.
