Northern Minerals is currently exploring the project as part of a wider exploration program covering contiguous tenements in Western Australia and the Northern Territory over the greater part of the Browns Range Dome. The targeted commodity is Heavy Rare Earths associated with xenotime mineralisation, similar to that discovered at the Wolverine prospect on the Western Australian side of the Browns Range Dome. During the reporting period, an Aboriginal heritage survey was completed providing permission for mapping, rock chip sampling, soil sampling and drilling on tenement EL 26286. This tenement was selected for the initial phase of ground based exploration due to outcropping occurrences of Browns Range Metamorphics, host of the xenotime mineralisation discovered to date in WA, and anomalous assay results for yttrium reported in historic exploration reports. The field program included helicopter assisted reconnaissance and mapping where four rock chips were collected. Other work completed during the reporting period included an interpretation of airborne magnetic and radiometric data covering the entire Browns Range Dome provided by Southern Geoscience, and a geomechanical analysis by GMEX, which sought to model mineralisation events within the Browns Range dome and hence predict further areas of interest. The southern region of the dome, where EL 26286 sits, was one such area that was highlighted for further mineralisation potential. The work program for 2014 will encompass further data analysis and potential target generation in preparation for reconnaissance geological mapping and a soil sampling program, both of which are likely to be helicopter supported.
