Abstract: | EL 26812 was granted to Arafura Resources on 4 March 2009 for a period of six years. This tenement was reduced as per statutory requirements and in its third year was subsequently combined with the adjacent EL 10215 to form EL 29701. Consequently, EL 26812 was relinquished on 6 November 2012. EL 26812 formed part of Arafura's Jervois project area in the eastern part of the Aileron Province in the Arunta Region, Northern Territory. The license area was acquired because this area has potential to host a variety of mineralisation styles. No on-ground work was done on EL 26812. Arafura's exploration in the Jervois project area has primarily focused on assessing the Fe-V resources at the Unca prospect within the Attutra Metagabbro on the adjacent EL 10215. Arafura also found anomalous levels of Au-PGEs in the Attutra Metagabbro on EL 10215. This suggests that some of the mafic intrusions within EL 26812 may have potential for igneous or hydrothermal Au-PGE mineralisation. In the final period, Rox Resources approached Arafura to explore the Jervois project area for base metals. Their initial reconnaissance activities involved site investigations at a number of historic prospects/workings within the adjacent EL 10215. It was agreed that the exploration JV was to be finalized after the new combined tenement was granted. |
