The Petermann Ranges Project area is located on ALRA land near the NT/WA border about 500 km west of Alice Springs, in the northern part of the Musgrave Block Province. It comprised contiguous tenements EL 31531, EL 26530, EL 27014 and EL 27581, reported as GR472. The area is considered prospective for a raft of commodities including Au, Cu, Pb, Zn, Co, Ni, REE's and energy metals, most likely in Neoproterozoic sediments and Mesoproterozoic volcanics. This report describes exploration on EL 31531, granted in March 2017 and surrendered in December 2019. The tenement area was historically investigated ca. 2002-2006 by Goldsearch/Independence Group JV. Regional and follow up soil and rockchip sampling defined prospect areas with anomalous Cu, Pb, Ag and Co, but no drilling was carried out. The only drilling is shallow diamond holes in 1971 by NTGS into a surficial Cu show at Docker Copper Prospect which intersected minor Cu mineralisation. In the first year of tenure public domain datasets and historical surface sampling data were analysed. A consultant geologist's report delivered exploration targets, recommendations and strategies. A large part of the EL was flown with a VTEM collaborations survey on 500m flight lines. Results showed the area is amenable to exploration using AEM, and identified one isolated priority one anomaly and three lesser anomalies. In year two core from the Docker Copper Prospect was re-logged and analysed with pXRF to better define the mineralisation-lithology association. Detailed modelling completed on the VTEM anomlies confirmed the proiority one anomaly as a standout bedrock conductor response. Synthesis and interpretation completed of all information including magnetics, gravity, historical sampling and VTEM results suggest principal target lithologies are Mesoproterozoic volcanics. In year three it was proposed to acquire ground gravity data. However, land access issues could not be reasonably resolved. No on-ground exploration was conducted for the duration of tenure, and ultimately the titleholder decided to withdraw from the project area. The source of historical geochemical anomalies and nature of the priority one bedrock conductor remain unknown.en_US
