Abstract: ABM explores the 'South Tanami' project for the potential of gold mineralisation. ABM applied for the tenements as they show numerous features of interest in both regional magnetic and gravity datasets, and are known to host stratigraphy that is analogous to the nearby world class Callie gold mine, which lies 20km to the east of the project. The two kilometre long Officer Hill prospect, a weak gold anomaly defined by several lines of surface sampling and shallow drilling, is also partially located within the tenement boundaries. Exploration in the first year of tenure consisted of regional desktop studies, including geophysical and geological interpretations which resulted in the planning and completion of two geochemical surface sampling programs. Whilst conducting the surveys some minor mapping and ground-truthing was undertaken. A total of 606 surface samples were collected from the Mallie and Tanami South survey areas, both located on EL 23926. The Mallie survey is sited over an interpreted zone of interaction between the Tanami and Mongrel Faults (and related splays), and includes historic anomalies generated by patchy drilling over a strong magnetic high. The Mallie survey generated three areas of potential gold anomalism all of which lie within the intrusive formation of S-type granites overlain by Antrium plateau volcanics. The Southern Tanami survey was designed to test a zone of interpreted fault interaction, namely splays off the regionally significant Mongrel Fault. The Southern Tanami survey generated two gold anomalies. One anomaly, near the Tanami Downs station, coincides with mapped calcrete. Silver, copper and molybdenum provide support to the gold anomaly. The second anomaly to the south of the survey possibly correlates to an interpreted fault or indicates that the survey has detected the extent of the Officer Hill prospect, which lies under Antrim Plateau Volcanic cover to the south.
