| dc.description.abstract | The Balbirini Dolostone, part of the early Mesoproterozoic Nathan Group, is a thick unit of interbedded dolostone and dolomitic siliciclastic rocks that include evaporitic redbeds. A sample from the base of the Balbirini Dolostone (base 'evaporitic unit') yielded an interpreted maximum depositional age (MDA) of 1625 +/- 14 Ma. A sample from the medial Balbirini Dolostone (base 'stromatolitic unit') returned an interpreted MDA of 1607 +/-6 Ma. | - |
