Final Report MC 24133, MC 24134 and MC 24135 Mount Bundy Quarry

Abstract

The three recently granted EML's are part of the Halkitis Bros Mt Bundy Quarry, which is a major supplier of construction materials to the Darwin market. The three Mineral Claims were originally pegged by Stan Kennon who was the original developer of the Mt Bundy Quarry in the 1970's. It is assumed that they were pegged to ensure a future long term rock supply for the quarry business. The Mt Bundy Quarry and associated titles were purchased by Halkitis Bros from Stan Kennon on 31 December 1992. A water supply dam for the Quarry and crushing plant was constructed on Mineral Claim 24135 by Stan Kennon. Trial excavations in the Mineral Claims were dug to confirm the continuity of the Mt Bundy Quarry Granite/Syenite south from the main mining area. However, it was visual observation and surveying that probably assisted the pegging of the three Mineral Claims. No formal geological studies or drilling reports have been conducted on the three Mineral Claims, and they were pegged for the purposes of ore continuity for the quarry operation. The three former Mineral Claims, which are now Extractive Mineral Leases, will be included in the Halkitis Bros Mt Bundy Quarry complex.
