Abstract: | Crossland Uranium Mines assessed the potential for generation of geothermal energy based on 'hot dry rock' geothermal models. Investigation focussed on areas with anomalous airborne radiometric readings of uranium, thorium and potassium in the Teapot Granite Complex. Sub-surface temperatures and gamma readings were measured in 15 diamond drillholes, CED-001 to CED-015, from EL25230. The Teapot Granite has the potential to generate heat by decay of radioactive content based on the high radiometric readings, reaching 6 times the background values. Further exploration is needed on conductivity, insulating properties and extent of Teapot Granite. Downhole survey, drillhole geology log and downhole gamma survey count data are included in report appendices. The exploration permit was surrendered in April 2013. |
