Abstract: | The Glen Edith Hills are located within the northwest Amadeus Basin and form the surface expression of the Glen Edith Anticline. This anticline forms the western-most extension of the Mereenie Anticline, a large surface anticline that extends a further 125 Km to the east as far as Tempe Downs where it is referred to as the Walker Creek Anticline. The sedimentary rock formations present within the Glen Edith Anticline belong to the Pertaoorrta Group, the Larapinta Group, the Mereenie Sandstone and the Pertnjara Group. The sediments represent periods of marine and continental deposition and range in age from Early Cambrian to Late Devonian. The sediments have been folded into an anticline that is extensively faulted. The configuration of the faulting indicates that the anticline has formed as an en-echelon structure to a major left lateral wrench zone situated to the north. |
