Abstract

In May 2011 a regional systematic 1000m x 1000m soil sampling program on east west traverses was completed for 138 soil samples. The soil samples were collected from a depth of 150mm and sieved to 200(micron). Also 138 anthill samples from anthills nearby the soil sampling locations were taken. In addition one stream sediment sample from a sandy creek bed and one rockchip sample from a calcrete outcrop were taken to test evaporite and colluvial methods of mineral transportation. Also one sample was taken from the remainder of a historic drill hole. The ground was damp in considerable parts of the project area. In these areas the samples were taken from the surface, rather than from 150mm below the surface as the wet soil clumped together at this depth and made sieving impossible. All samples were submitted to Genalysis Laboratories in Perth to be analysed for gold as well as a multi-element suite for minerals associated with gold mineralisation. The best assay value returned was 0.00076ppm Au from anthill sample X121504, located on EL 22229. Geological mapping was planned but no outcrops were identified. The remainder of previously drilled Aircore or RAB holes were located. The drill hole samples showed fine to medium sediments from near the surface and a significant zone of contact metamorphic rock types over a quartz rich granite. Holes appeared to be of approximately 40m to 60m in depth.
