This report covers the first year exploration conducted at White Range East EL 28029. EL 28029 lies 100 km east-north-east of Alice Springs, and encompasses the bulk of the rugged Amarata Range. EL 28029 contains Blueys Folly, a prospect notable for rare earth occurrences within high grade metamorphic rocks. To date no JORC resource has been delineated, but it's thought several million tonne at 0.4% REE exists (Hussey, 2003). Year 1 work comprised a detailed literature study, reprocessing of available geophysical data, in particular total magnetics and thorium, undertaking several site visits with a hand held scintillometer, improving site access and rock chip sampling. The results were inconclusive. Ground scintillometer surveys over thorium anomalies at Blueys Folly and Valley View returned only mildly elevated thorium, and appeared to regularly be topographic high points. No visible allanite or high thorium mineralisation was observed at these locations. Reported high grade rare earth mineralisation by the NTGS (Hussey, 2003) at Blueys Folly was not observed. However 3 rock chip samples were taken, near Blueys Folly, one sample returned anomalous La and Th. Follow up re-assaying of this sample will be reported in year 2. In conjunction with the anomalous sample mentioned above, future work will target the reported areas where other anomalous REE samples were taken e.g. (CSIRO, 1988). Unfortunately it seems to be a recurrence that many of the reported samples do not appear to have accurate locations, and given the nature of the hilly terrain, it will be a fair challenge for exploration personnel.en_US
