L 24986 was granted on 4 August 2006 to Exploration and Resource Development Pty Ltd (ERD), a Darwin based resource sector company for a period of six years. On February 5 2009 ERD changed its name to Australian Ilmenite Resources Pty Ltd (AIR). The license area of 41 sub-blocks was originally applied for to target known heavy mineral deposits, potential uranium anomalies as well as the iron ore potential in the easterly portion of the EL and the assessment of the diamond prospectivity of the area. This report details all exploration activity carried out over the tenement. Diamond exploration included an assessment of previous efforts by various companies against the Departmental diamond database. Heavy Mineral Exploration included mapping, a small sampling program and reassessment of the results against current company databases while several marketing trips and discussions on joint venture arrangements with members from the Shandong Dongjia Group, Chihong International Mining Limited, FuShun and Sinosteel Mining were recorded. Uranium exploration has included large scale mapping and interpolation of existing datasets to identify anomalies within the lease area as well as investigations into past reports available within the Departments open file reports. Discussions have been held with Territory Uranium with a view to establishing a relationship within this tenement for the exploration of uranium anomalies. Iron ore exploration has included a small helicopter based geological survey and sampling program to assess the geology, extent and content of the Sherwin ironstone member exposed in the easterly section of the EL. Discussions with Batavia Mining Limited and Western Desert Resources Limited have occurred to look at joint venture or asset and share transfer opportunities.en_US
