Annual report for exploration licences 23862, 24328 - 24336 incl. Tiwi Islands NT for the period ending 31 March 2008

Abstract

This annual report covers EL 23862 and EL 24328 to EL 24336 inclusive for which there is combined reporting status with the due date of 31 March 2008. The ELs are located on Melville and Bathurst Islands which form the Tiwi Islands in the Northern Territory. After three hectic years of a high level of exploration, activities in the reporting year were rather subdued mainly due to the requirement of stablishing full production at the Andranangoo Mineral Sands Mine (ML 24510). With the establishment of additional resources at the Goose Creek East, Goose Creek West, Andranangoo Creek East, Radford Point, Lethbridge Bay South, and Robinson Inlet East prospects, it was felt that no further exploration was warranted until the 2008 field season. A small amount of exploration was carried out on Bathurst Island at Wangati North and some further testing of samples from One Tree Point (Bathurst South Project). Exemption from reduction is being sought for all Exploration Licences on the Tiwi Islands. During the reporting year, Mineral Lease applications were made over the resource areas at Goose Creek East, Goose Creek West, Andranangoo Creek East, Radford Point, Robinson East (all in EL 23862 on Melville Island) and at Puwanapi (EL24328 on Bathurst Island). An ML application was also submitted over the Lethbridge South Resource but was later withdrawn due to confusion about Mineral lease applications over Exploration Licence applications. A revised ML application will be submitted once EL 25150 is granted.
