Annual report on exploration activities for EL 23931 Batten, year 3 of tenure, 3 February 2006 to 2 February 2007

Abstract

During the past year of tenure, a single gravel sample was collected in the drainage which had previously reported chromite, with an aim of recovering chromite grains for SEM analysis. Results from the sample collected during 2006 have been received, with 15 chromites recovered. Preliminary interpretation of the probe data indicates that the recovered grains appear unlikely to be sourced from a kimberlite. Further follow up sampling in the priority drainage was planned but appears unwarranted at this stage. The status of EL 23931 is currently under review, although it is likely that some further sampling in adjacent tributaries is warranted given the recovery of both micro and macrodiamonds by previous explorers in the vicinity of the EL.
