Bing Bong 5, drilled by Shell in 1982, is one of a number of wells drilled in the McArthur Basin that intersect Paleoproterozoic organic-rich rocks. The well intersects the Lynott Formation from 0 m to 60.28 m, the Reward Dolostone from 60.28 m to 214.6 m, the Barney Creek Formation from 214.6 m to 352.65 mj, and the Teena Dolostone from 352.65 m to 370 m at total depth. This data release contains the results of a geochemical study of Bing Bong 5 and includes mineralogy from X-ray diffraction (XRD), source rock characterisation from Rock-Eval pyrolysis and trace metal data from Xray fluorescence (XRF) and quadrapole inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (Q-ICP-MS). This work was carried out in the Isotope and Organic Geochemistry, and Inorganic Geochemical Laboratories at Geoscience Australia and was undertaken as part of the Australian Source Rock Study Project.en_US
All rocks analysed in this study are listed in the supplementary information, of which the 61 samples analysed covered three formations; the Lynott Formation, the Reward Dolostone and the Barney Creek Formation including the Here's Your Chance (HYC) Pyritic Shale Member from 302.16 m to 318.35 m.en_US
