L 23495 was granted to Neil Henry Scriven on the 7th of November 2002 for a period of six years. The area extent of the exploration licence, in year three, consists of 31 one minute blocks. The licence is located approximately 10 kilometres east of Helen Springs station homestead. The station is located approximately 150 kilometres north of Tennant Creek. Exploration carried out on el 23495 consisted of surface mapping and a shallow em survey. A moving ground EM method (as against loops) has been successfully used in the north of Australia to locate the weathered clays overlying kimberlite. In 2003 this method was orientated with success on the known Bootu Creek manganese occurrences and was implemented on EL 23495. Two instruments were used, the first instrument the more penetrative E34 consist of two hand held circular loops representing a transmitter and receiver. The manufacturers claim this instrument can penetrate up to 40 metres depth. The second EM instrument the E31 used consisted of a two metre boom with a transmitter at one end and a receiver at the other, the instrument can penetrate 4 to 6 metres depth. This instrument was used in the 2006 survey. The e31 confirmed a suspected north south strike for the manganese mineralisation and also indicated an apparent shallow westerly dip. Another result outlined by the e31 survey was a lack of response over some areas of manganese float. Further ground examination of the float suggested that the float is scree due to ground wash rather than suboutcrop. Recommendations for the 2007 exploration program is the completion of last years programme with the plan to initially to costean the area in the vicinity of drillhole EUPC 8, site of the ore grade manganese mineralisation drill intersection. It is hoped from this costean that enough structural data can be obtained to locate further costeans and future drilling.en_US
