Abstract: | The intent of this research project is to use current biomarker analysis techniques to investigate the presence of ancient molecular fossils in two geologic settings. The first study site is the Vindhyan Supergroup of Central India. The goal is to elucidate the presence of Proterozoic (2.5-.5 Ga) biomarkers in shales of the Vindhyan Supergroup and characterize the depositional environment based on any identified biomarkers. The second part of the project aims to assess the biomarker content of Cambrian rocks from the Georgina Basin of Australia. |
