In 1956 Mines Administration Pty Ltd carried out geological and gravimetric surveys in the Port Keats area within OP2 in the Bonaparte Gulf Basin. A total of 63.3 miles of survey line was run, resulting in 125 gravity stations being pegged. A thickness of at least 1500 feet of marine and non-marine shallow water Permian sediments were mapped. No major anticlinal structure in the Permian was found and the gravity survey was insufficient to delineate any sub-surface structure.en_US
