Abstract: | The 1964 Northern Simpson Desert Seismic Survey was carried out by Compagnie Generale De Geophysique on behalf of Mercure International Pertroleum Pty Ltd within OP64. The survey acquired 142.7km of reflective seismic lines and 19.2km of refraction lines, in-line offset and velocity spreads. The main objectives of this seismic survey were to study the structural shape of the basin and to check if the precious gravity and aeromagnetic data obtained from previous surveys are directly related to the structural shape of the basin. A strong and continuous reflector was easily followed on both traverses. It dips gently south- wards. No interesting structures were revealed. |
