L 27624 lies 200 km north-east of Alice Springs. Previous workers in the area have not been successful in drilling any economic mineralisation. A literature review and magnetic interpretation of the area suggested an unusual linear and sigmoidal zone of strong magnetics located within the Delny-Mt Sainthill Shear Zone. Previous rock chip sampling in the area had highlighted anomalous Zn, Cu, Ag and Pb. Field reconnaissance confirmed that some outcrops contained calc-silicate alteration, and areas of poorly mineralised gossanous veins. The veins were small and narrow. Previous mapping of felsic volcanics near Mt Sainthill were not visually confirmed. The rock in question probably is a highly altered, siliceous mylonite. A total of 5 rock chips and 11 soil samples were taken. The rock chips mostly came back barren, the most significant assay being 130 ppm W from a calc-silicate outcrop that had purportedly yielded 1% Zn. Soil results are not yet available and will be reported next year. Future work will largely be decided by the soil results. If the results are anomalous, more detailed follow up will be required.en_US
