Assays for groundwater samples collected in Year 1 and reported in Year 2 have been found to be erroneous due to laboratory problems, except for F and carbonate. Reassay of these samples was finally completed in Year 3. The groundwater chemistry contains a group of weakly anomalous base, toxic and rare earth elements when compared with the entire dataset of 280 samples from the Aileron and Warrabri regions. In the north, groundwaters in the region of the calcrete are anomalous in U, Cu, Ni, Co, Mo, Cd, Sb, Se, Dy, Nd, Gd, and Sm. The calcrete does not exhibit an airborne radiometric anomaly as at the Napperby deposit and reconnaissance did not detect any uranium mineralisation. Yet, the groundwater geochemistry remains unexplained and is considered sufficiently important to warrant further exploration. South of the project area groundwaters from the Chabalowe Formation are anomalous in Se, As, Hi, Co, Mo and Cu and those from the contact zone of the Skinner Granite are anomalous in U, Cu, Ni, Co, Mo, Cd, Se, Sb, Gd, Sm, and Nd. Phosphatic sediment worldwide are known to contain traces of all these metals and it is proposed that this suite of anomalous geochemistry is derived from the underlying Chabalowe Formation with possible contribution from the contact zone of the Skinner Granite. The extent of this formation is projected beneath the northern part of the project area and it is interesting to note that cuttings from a drill hole at Wycliffe Well assayed 3m @ 2.2% P2O5 from 3m. Two targets are therefore proposed; secondary uranium at depth within the calcrete in the northern part of the area that is not detectable by surface radiometrics and, phosphate in the Chabalowe Formation beneath shallow cover.en_US
