Abstract

The initial year was spent in reviewing technical data pertinent to the area, including geological reports and previous historic information. Discussions with previous with previous geologists have added much to the knowledge of the area. A reconnaissance survey of the EL and old workings was carried, including collecting samples for visual analyses and inspection for gemstones. Field sampling of a variety of gem material was conducted and careful selection of samples was achieved. After having established the general outline of gem material occurring on the EL, initial reaction of overseas marketability was investigated, primarily the USA and Canada. Investigating the potential real markets for Ruby, Tourmaline, Gem Kyanite, Sphene, Gem Garnets and Gem Quartz.
