Title: | EL 28772 Andado, Annual report for the 12 month period ending 4 November 2013 |
Title Holder / Company: | Queensland Coal Investments |
Report id: | CR2013-1088 |
Tenure: | EL28772 |
Year: | 2013 |
Author: | Sibley, T |
Abstract: | EL 28772 has been assessed during the first and second year of tenure as holding limited potential for the presence of Purni Formation coal. This is mainly indicated by the presence of the basal Permian unit outcrops of the Crown Point Formation just outside the eastern boundary of the EL. On this basis, it could be assumed that the Purni Formation also sub-crops to the east of the EL. However it is believed that this hypothesis should be tested with a reconnaissance programme of seismic surveying in order to identify evidence of coal seams at depth. In order to achieve this, QCI is holding negotiations with Santos so that an agreement can be reached to share seismic data run over the area. After the acquisition of this data, a small programme of reconnaissance open hole drilling is planned to test seismic reflectors. The initial programme could consist of three holes to depths of approximately 250 metres each sited along the eastern boundary of the EL. |
