Annual report MLN 414 and MLN 418 Quest 155 for the period 8 July 1985 to 16 February 1986.

Abstract

Exploration activities for epigenetic gold mineralisation on MLN 414 to 418, Quest 155) completed during the period 8 July 1985 to 16 February 1986 by Western Mining Corporation Limited on behalf of WR Grace Australia Limited who hold an option over mineral leases on behalf of the Mount Ringwood Joint Venture. The exploration target is vein mineralization within magnetically responsive, altered metagabbro of the Zamu Dolerite (F17 gabbro) emplaced prior to regional folding into the lower Proterozoic Gerowie Tuff of the prior to regional folding into the lower Proterozoic Gerowie Tuff of the Pine Creek Geosyncline, NT. Detailed exploration activities reported include ground geophysics: magnetics (100m x 10m), TEM (200m loop, 100m loop, detailed lines) and gravity together with computer modelling of data; completion of 7 diamond drill holes (1283.3m including 321m percussion, 931.3m HQ core, one water bore), 3 RC percussion holes (238m), and logging and analysis of samples from these and three previous holes into the prospect completed by Geopeko in 1978 and 1979. Results, of Regional Exploration, detailed logging, petrography and down hole geophysical logging are reviewed and synthesized into discussion of the structure, stratigraphy, metamorphic and alteration history of the prospect and of the nature of mineralization defined. Mineralization encountered in 1985 activities within MLN414 to 418 is wide spread but only significant in a relatively small strike length of vein breccia hosted by altered gabbro on the western limb of the assymmetrical Quest 155 anticline which is the dominant structure thin, sub economic mineralized breccia are upon results of 1985 activities, to further evaluate the MLN 414 to 418 lease block during 1986.
