Final report on EL 219, areas retained under other tenure after 31 December 1976

Abstract

This report details the exploration activities, carried out during 1976 in those areas of EL 219 which were under mining lease or mining lease application at 31 December 1976 (date of final relinquishment of EL 219). During 1976 all exploration efforts within EL 219 were concentrated on the Barote Area and its included and/or adjoining prospects and the only additional work was an extensive leasing programme carried out over prospects in the Magela Area north of the Ranger 1 SML application. Exploration activities in the Barote Area and its prospects comprised an extensive gridding programme, detailed geological mapping combined with a surface radiometric survey, an alphanometry survey, a gravity and a resistivity survey, a large drilling programme involving auger core, rotary percussion and diamond drilling, and a substantial leasing programme.
