Abstract: In order to achieve the objects of the 1972 work programme a combined effort of field and office work was required. In the early months the field work was comprised essentially of check mapping, check surveying, relogging of core, flight line recovery and checking of field records. Simultaneously head office was involved in checking of records, conversion of data to metric units, design of standard size plans, design of standard nomenclature, replotting of data, reinterpretation of data and definition of data gaps. Later in the year the field work was designed to fill some of the data gaps revealed in the assessment programme. Field work undertaken included geological mapping, surveying, drilling and associated activities, trial geochemical surveys etc. Outside contractors were also engaged to assist in filling of data gaps and such work included the production of aeromagnetic contour maps, aerial colour photography survey and commencement of a new photogeological interpretation based on colour photography and existing geological and geophysical data. This last aspect of the work is in progress and is being carried out by consultants in Denver U.S.A.
