Title Holder / Company: Spundaily
Report id: CR2013-0436
Tenure: EL27627
Year: 2013
Author: Harris, R
Abstract: EL 27627 was granted on 17 May 2009 and comprises 29 blocks on PP Lease 1109, Kurundi Station. The target mineral was gold (au). Most of the old workings appear to be within Fan Alluvials in the Ooradidgee Subgroup. The majority of the gold recovered appears to have been with the use of metal detectors and turning the ground over (graders, loaders) Data Base / Library search failed to find any significant reports of the particular area covered by the EL. Word of mouth reports from previous lease holders was more informative, however conflicting reports had been received regarding the amount of gold recovered on the various MC's on the EL. Arrangement was made to meet with some previous leaseholders from this area. The meetings were held in Tennant Creek in late March 2013. It was obvious from the meetings that some reports were wildly inaccurate, and much of the gold reported recovered from 1414 (Black Can) was not in fact recovered from that site. A further visit was made to the remaining 8 blocks in April and these blocks were extensively checked for mineral indications with no new areas discovered. Following this visit a meeting was held with consulting geologist J McGregor-Dawson. The exploration results to date and the meetings in Tennant Creek with previous lease holders was discussed. The geologists recommendation was that the EL did not warrant further exploration work. Department was advised on 13 May 2013 of surrender of the EL.
