Located 150 km east from Alice Springs, the Limbla prospect encompasses the Hale River in what is known as rough channel country or run-off country where a myriad of sharp cutting creeks exit from rugged terrain. Oneva Exploration Pty Ltd (Oneva) initially targeted six main feature areas on Satellite imagery with potential for gold, iron, manganese and nickel-zinc-copper mineralisation. A first-pass batch of 37 soil and 3 rockchip samples collected from two feature areas across the Oolera Fault Block Zone within the Hale River system were reduced to clay fraction prior to assay. Samples were found deficient in clay content; some barely provided 50g from 3kg soils. Multi-element ME-MS61r and FA ICP-AES gold assays returned low order results. Geomorphologist Richard Russell reviewed the assay data and determined 5 sampled sites tabled above background values. At semi-circular feature Hill Zero, elevated rare earth element assays assist in confirming a deep-seated mantle intrusive structure. Geochemistry response points towards a carbonatite or possible alkaline intrusion. At a second feature location, possibly an oxbow or paleaochannel fragment of the Hale River, rockchip sample LR2001 positioned at the foot of an adjacent low hill, yielded high iron and manganese with elevated nickel, rare earths and cobalt. Geochemistry indicates a goethite breccia; probably a carbonatite and possibly kimberlite close to ultramafic rock. Heavy rainfall, the second highest ever-recorded in central Australia then washed out vehicular creek crossings and channel thoroughfare, including the Hale River crossings and disabled further work. Oneva's orientation fieldwork covering 120 plotted targets had only just commenced. Little conclusion could be interpreted from the limited work done.en_US
