This is the third partial relinquishment report on AusQuest's Plenty River tenements EL 23566. Tenement EL 23566 was pegged after the definition of a cluster of dipolar anomalies to the east (then within AusQuest ELA 22872 and ELA 23792) by the 2001 NTGS Eromanga aeromagnetic survey. These anomalies strongly resembled the dipolar anomalies commonly associated with potentially diamondiferous kimberlite or lamproite pipes. The Eromanga survey indicated several dipolar anomalies within the area originally covered by EL 23566. Work was completed as part of a broader program of exploration focussed within adjacent tenements in the Plenty River Project area. More recent work has focussed on the base metals potential of the area with a helicopter-borne VTEM survey (209.45 line km) and two EM ground grids (10.2 line km) being undertaken in the relinquished area. Although the possibility that some of the airborne anomalies in the region may represent, or be associated with, kimberlite or lamproite intrusives cannot be ruled out, the airborne magnetic features that form the basis of the main target concept for the tenements are most likely due to superficial laterites. The geophysical surveys did not highlight any significant anomalies in the area surrendered.en_US
