Abstract: | During July 2010, a geologist retained by Tianda Resources (Australia) spent a week in Darwin, acquiring data pertaining to EL 25689 and EL 25690. This included published datasets, the downloading of water well data and the logging and sampling of drill chips at the NTGS core facility at Winnellie. 82 drill chip samples, each of about seven grams, were taken, and geological logging of six drillholes undertaken: four of these had chip samples, while two did not. All were photographed. Of these, only RN027947 at 463372E 7932377N was on EL 25690 and 35 samples were taken. ICP assays were performed in Perth, Western Australia. The results were modest, with the highest concentrations being in the range 400 - 1650ppm phosphorus. These results compare poorly with the Duchess Mine in Queensland, which has 100 million tonnes at 23%. Nevertheless, the results showed the highest phosphorus concentrations were in the south and west of the project area. Water well data was downloaded from the website of the Department of Natural Resources, Environment, The Arts and Sport (NRETA). Fifty seven bore reports were studied, most of which included drillers logs of the lithology. These were compiled onto a basemap and elementary stratigraphic cross-sections compiled. These showed the highest concentration of phosphate was in the southwest, and the Gum Ridge Formation was shallowest in this area. The data density in the district was very low. Although 82 samples were taken, they were in four drillholes along a west-east extent of 50 kilometres and representing over 2000 square kilometres of ground. The 57 water wells in this area were generally less than 100 metres deep and very few had been sampled or assayed. A program to increase this data density would include drilling exploration holes at a 2 - 3 kilometre separation over the tenements, to a depth of 100 metres. |
