The High Black Range EL 25692 was identified as potentially hosting uranium mineralisation by a review of publicly available airborne radiometric data. The tenement straddles the boundary between the Moroak and Goondooloo stations, about 130km east of Katherine. The exploration tenement overlies sections of the West Mc Arthur Basin, where sandstones, siltstones and mudstones of the Roper Group are intruded by dolerite sills and diorite dykes. During 2008 exploration of the tenement focussed on radiometric anomalies on the southern side of the tenement. These were field checked and appear to be related to black soil areas forming in valleys between the sandstone outcrops. During field investigations iron rich units were noted in a stratigraphic position which might suggest that the Sherwin Iron member or its equivalent could occur within the area. Further field work will focus on an evaluation of the iron potential of the tenement.en_US
